DESCRIPTION:EVENT CANCELLED\n\nOn November 21\, 2019\, the Industry Business Council welcomes guest speaker\, California State Senator Susan Rubio. Senator Rubio will provide IBC and community members with an update on legislative issues in Sacramento that impact our region.\n\n \n\nSenator Rubio will also be discussing legislation she has introduced and supports. Her policy proposals aim to provide solutions for issues including insurance\, local government\, education\, domestic violence\, access to healthcare\, and more. During this legislative session Senator Rubio secured $5.625 million from the state budget to address the needs of the growing homeless population in the San Gabriel Valley.\n\n \n\nState Senator Rubio was elected to the California Legislature in 2018 to represent the 22nd Senate District that houses 15 cities\, including the City of Industry\, and several unincorporated San Gabriel Valley communities of Los Angeles County. She currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Insurance Committee.\n\n \n\nPrior to being elected to the Legislature\, Senator Rubio was a councilmember for the City of Baldwin Park where she balanced the city budget and protected vital services and programs in the community. Senator Rubio has strong roots in education as a teacher for over 17 year.
